Guided Auger Boring

Guided Auger Boring is a high-precision, trenchless pipe installation technique designed to lay underground utilities without digging continuous surface trenches.

The guided auger boring equipment is set up in a launch pit between thrust walls, perfectly aligned with the predetermined route and target grade. Using a live optical guidance system with a theodolite camera, operators monitor and guide pilot rods with extreme precision through the ground toward the receiving pit. Once the pilot bore reaches the destination, the line is enlarged via auger boring, followed by clay or steel pipe jacking to finalize utility installation.

1.Pit Preparation

Construct the launching pit and receiving pit, install the thrust wall, and align the machine.

2.Pilot Rod Drilling

Use a theodolite camera to monitor the pilot head in real time and advance the pilot rod to the receiving pit at the predetermined angle.

3.Auger Reaming

After the pilot rod reaches the receiving pit, perform auger reaming to enlarge the borehole while simultaneously discharging the excavated soil back out.

4.Pipe Jacking

Progressively jack clay pipes or steel pipes into place, complete the pipeline installation, and carry out site restoration.
